Van Diemen’s Band with Genevieve Lacey
Van Diemen’s Band is an exciting new Tasmanian chamber orchestra dedicated to the historically informed performance of music of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Made up of some of the nation’s most highly respected early music specialists, whether based in Australia or overseas, VDB combines musicological research and high-level performance by musicians who, between them, have many decades of baroque music-making experience.
Van Diemen’s Band is joined by Australia’s favourite virtuoso recorder player for a sumptuous program of Italian concertos. Featuring Vivaldi’s stunning C major recorder concerto and the famous Corelli Christmas concerto alongside stunning lesser known concertos by Sammartini, Dall’Abaco and Fiorenza. Come and discover the rich world of Italian baroque instrumental music in a unique and intimate setting of the Falls Pavillion.
